The Richmond Olympic Oval, a multi-sport venue, is home to many great Canadian athletes who train at this beautiful facility. Can-Design was tasked with transforming the feature staircase walls into a homage to great athletes past and present who call the Oval – home.

The wall mural is over 96’ long with a 2’ gap between the staircase and the wall, nothing that a bit of tricky maneuvering couldn’t solve. The three sections were carefully measured and lined up accurately with the third irregular shaped wall with the stairs needing extra attention. The lobby and parking lot murals were also large and impactful. Installing in the dead of winter in the cold underground parkade, we needed to ensure that the concrete vinyl we used was able to withstand the colder temperatures and we timed our heating procedures delicately to maximize adhesion.

One of the things that make us proud of what we do, is seeing how impactful the murals and graphics are once they are installed. The visual imagery showcased in the design of these murals really represent the heart of Richmond Oval and Can-Design - PRIDE. We are proud of our team and our home.
